Here is the link to the Advent Week #3 playlist. Or just listen to it below!
I added some extra songs that I was going to make into a week #4 playlist but since Christmas is happening this week i thought i would give you all the Advent tunes I have left right now!
(or if you reading / listening to this during a year that does have 4 full weeks of Advent... You're welcome! ;-)

If you’ve been checking out my Noistrade recommendations are a few more…

Fiction Family :: Holiday EP
This is a group made of John Foreman, lead singer of Switch and one of the guys from the blue grass group Nickel Creek. I love their stuff and was stoked to see they put some Christmas / Holiday music together. It’s not traditional tunes but i’ve been enjoying it!

Matt Wertz :: Snow Globe
Matt is a singer / songwriter guy from Nashville. He’s a friend and a great guy with great music! This isn’t the entire album but a selected few songs from it. The song Snow Glob is GREAT! If you like it you should REALLY check out the music video. And go buy the album!

Blood:Water Mission :: Give Love on Christmas
Blood:Water Mission is a great non-profit with some great musical connections. I believe the proceeds of this album goes to support their ministry of giving clean water. They also put together a compilation last year for Christmas, you can download that as well

EXTRA
I wanted to share a resource I use throughout the year, The Upper Room Devotional. They have great meditations every day accompanied by scripture readings, the daily office, and a few other cool things. It comes daily to your inbox! A great resource!

They also have an Upper Room app for you to check out!

They have had some great Advent devotionals! Really, because they are following the lectionary,  a lot of their devotionals are fitting for the season.

Here is a bit from one...
OUR HEARTS – our spirits – wait for the coming of the Christ child. We have worked hard during this Advent season to listen to God’s voice, to turn over our fears and worries, to make a place in all the chaos to be able to welcome God into our lives and hearts. During these last days of Advent, we continue to wait. May these final days include times of quiet. Open wide the door to our hearts. Let there be spaces, silences, and open places. Let us give ourselves the gift of time.

DAY #24

The Journey Of The Magi

A cold coming we had of it,
Just the worst time of the year
For a journey, and such a long journey:
The ways deep and the weather sharp,
The very dead of winter.’
And the camels galled, sorefooted, refractory,
Lying down in the melting snow.
There were times we regretted
The summer palaces on slopes, the terraces,
And the silken girls bringing sherbet.
Then the camel men cursing and grumbling
and running away, and wanting their liquor and women,
And the night-fires going out, and the lack of shelters,
And the cities hostile and the towns unfriendly
And the villages dirty and charging high prices:
A hard time we had of it.
At the end we preferred to travel all night,
Sleeping in snatches,
With the voices singing in our ears, saying
That this was all folly.

Then at dawn we came down to a temperate valley,
Wet, below the snow line, smelling of vegetation;
With a running stream and a water-mill beating the darkness,
And three trees on the low sky,
And an old white horse galloped away in the meadow.
Then we came to a tavern with vine-leaves over the lintel,
Six hands at an open door dicing for pieces of silver,
And feet kiking the empty wine-skins.
But there was no information, and so we continued
And arriving at evening, not a moment too soon
Finding the place; it was (you might say) satisfactory.

All this was a long time ago, I remember,
And I would do it again, but set down
This set down
This: were we led all that way for
Birth or Death? There was a Birth, certainly
We had evidence and no doubt. I had seen birth and death,
But had thought they were different; this Birth was
Hard and bitter agony for us, like Death, our death.
We returned to our places, these Kingdoms,
But no longer at ease here, in the old dispensation,
With an alien people clutching their gods.
I should be glad of another death.

– TS Eliot, The Journey Of The Magi

This poem can be found in a book entitled “Watch for the Light: Readings for Advent and Christmas.” I’ve used this book for my Advent devotions in the past. It’s a compilation of tons of great authors with great thoughts for this season. Click on the title to pick on this book on Amazon.

EXTRA And here are a few images...
A couple get ahead of the game but I suppose that's ok, we all know where these guys are headed.

The ministry of Renovaré is amazing! When it comes to the spiritual disciplines and this idea of spiritual training, or as I referenced today, making alertness or any spiritual practice second nature, this organization will be a great resource!

They have some great resource on their website, all kinds of good stuff to check out but specifically, they have a list of Advent resources they recommend. My guess is that anything on this list is top notch and worth checking out. I'm familiar with a few of these items myself! Click on this image below to check out their recommendations...

If you have a favorite resource please share. Twee it and use the hashtag #AdventJourney

Fr. Richard Rohr wrote a really great book of Advent Meditation. It very small and maybe he best meditation on Advent I've come across. You've probably noticed a few meditations from him in the book, there is still more to come. This little video below is him talk about that book.

Enjoy!
